KARACHI: Almar Afridi struck a fine half-century as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) defeated Larkana by four wickets to annex the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II cricket title in Multan on Wednesday.

Fata, chasing 191, began their second innings on the penultimate day of the four-day final at the Multan Cricket Stadium and reached 195-6 in the 55th over to seal the trophy in the tournament for three new regions with Dera Murad Jamali the other side in fray who didn’t qualify for the final.

Fata, thus, avenged their defeat in the one-day final against the same opponents last Saturday in Multan.

Almar set up Fata’s well-deserved triumph with 60. Wicket-keeper Rehan Afridi, top-scorer in the first innings with 60, contributed 41 while Asif Afridi followed up his brilliant bowling effort of 16 wickets with a useful knock of 35.

Paceman Aamir Panhwar claimed three wickets for 54 runs.
