KARACHI: A sum of Rs seven crores has been proposed for the Karachi University for completion of buildings and to provide more equipment during the Third Five-Year Plan, according to reliable sources.

Of this, Rs 2,00,00,000 have been proposed for buildings, Rs 1,00,00,000 for equipment and the remaining Rs 4,00,00,000 for recurring expenditure.

The new Karachi University Campus is to be completed in four stages — the second phase will be over by the end of the Second Five-Year Plan in June, 1965.

The remaining two phases are proposed to be completed during the Third Plan, for which proposals have already been submitted by the Karachi University authorities.

It is stated that so far about Rs 2.75 crores have been spent on the new campus of the Karachi University.

Meanwhile, requirements for 1964-65 have been estimated at Rs 69.3 lakhs (Rs 65 lakhs for building and Rs 4.8 lakhs for repairs) and submitted to the West Pakistan Government for provision in the new budget, to carry on the construction work.
