ASWJ leader gunned down in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Firing on the federal capital's express highway has left Muhammad Sohail Muavia, a leader of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) dead on Monday, DawnNews reported.

Muavia was the secretary general of the organisation's Rawalpindi branch.

The incident took place near Zia Mosque in Islamabad's Thana Shehzad Town, when unknown gunmen opened fire on ASWJ Rawalpindi president Mufti Tanvir Alim's car.

Alim was not in the car at the time of the attack.

However as a result of the attack Sohail Mauvia was killed, while two other people were also injured.

The victim’s body was later taken to PIMS hospital.
