HANGU: A remote-controlled explosion struck the convoy of a political administration officer in Hangu Thursday, leaving him and two others injured, DawnNews reported.

Farid Khan, the SHO at Thal police station said Kurram Agency Chief Administrator Riaz Mehsud was travelling with his convoy to Peshawar when his vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb in Tor Gar area of Thal tehsil in Hangu.

Khan said that Riaz Mehsud and assistant political agents Fazle Qadir and tehsildar Ashgar were injured in the bomb attack.

The wounded were immediately shifted to Combined Military Hospital.

Khan said that a search operation was started in the areas and the army and police was combing the vicinity for the culprits.

During the search operation, security forces seized an explosive-laden vehicle and arrested four suspects, confirmed DSP Thal police Muhhammad Ashraf.

Earlier on March 5, a roadside bomb targeted a security forces’ convoy in Hangu district, killing six Frontier Corps personnel and injuring eight others.

Hangu borders the northwestern tribal region of Orakzai, one of Pakistan's seven lawless districts on the Afghan border considered to be the hub of Taliban and Al Qaeda-linked militants.
