ISLAMABAD: Another murderer of 10 climbers, who were gunned down in Gilgit-Baltistan on June 22, was arrested from a seminary here on Monday, sources have told Dawn.

His arrest has brought the tally to five as four of the attackers were apprehended by the police by July 15.

The suspect, a native of Diamer, was taking shelter in the seminary on Murree Road near Convention Centre for the last couple of months, the sources said, adding that he was on the run since the killings.

A joint team of intelligence agencies, security forces and counterterrorism authority arrested him and handed him over to Gilgit-Baltsitan police for further investigations and legal process.

On June 22, 2013, 16 militants in Gilgit Scouts uniform, stormed the base camp located at 4,200 meters above sea-level at Nanga Parbat, and killed the climbers and a local guide.

Three of them were from Ukraine, two from China, including one Chinese-American, two from Slovakia and one each from Lithuania and Nepal.
