QUETTA: Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan Major General Ejaz Shahid on Friday revealed that more than 50 militant camps of Baloch insurgents are operating in the province.

He said the militants based inside “Ferrari camps” were targeting security forces and vital national installations in Balochistan, Pakistan's sparsely populated and least developed province.

“Despite meagre resources, we are determined to restore traditional peace of Balochistan,” the FC chief told reporters on the occasion of display of huge catche of arms and ammunition near Chaman, Pakistan’s border town with Afghanistan.

The statement has come after Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch announced to hold talks with all militants groups in the province to pave the way for negotiated settlements of issues relating to the troubled province.

The FC claimed to have foiled a major bid of terrorism while recovering huge catche of arms and ammunition from Chaman.

Major General Shahid stated that following efforts of FC, the crime ratio was decreased in Balochistan during last six months.

“Coordination between FC and other law enforcement agencies have been improved,” he added.

He said the weapons seized by the FC at Chaman were being brought to carry out subversive activities in Balochistan. “FC timely acted and foiled the terror bid,” he said.

Meanwhile, two militants were killed during an armed clash with security forces in Balochistan's troubled Naseerabad district on Friday, a security official said.

A security official, who requested not to be named since he was not authorised to speak to media, told Dawn.com that militants opened gunfire at the FC convoy in Chahtar area of Naseerabad district.

He said the FC personnel quickly retaliated and two attackers were killed. However, he said one FC personnel was also injured in the attack.
