ISLAMABAD, May 29: Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Thursday nobody could do anything about the president’s uniform except the organization that gave it to him.

“Neither you nor I gave him the uniform. It was given to him by an organization and only that organization can decide about that,” he told reporters after a meeting of the National Economic Council.

Mr Jamali said all efforts were being made to resolve the controversy over the Legal Framework Order and hoped that it would be resolved soon. “The whole world lives on hope and we hope that issues will be resolved so (that) the country and parliament can function.”

He said it was the responsibility of all parliamentarians, and not only the government, to work for the stability of the country and parliament.

Asked about the manhandling of opposition MPAs in Lahore by the police, he said the sanctity of the assembly and its members should not be breached at any cost. He said nobody should be humiliated and added that he was not unhappy at the Lahore incident.

In reply to a question what would be the next step towards resolution of issues between India and Pakistan, the prime minister said the peace process would not stop now.

“We have taken first step, will take the second and will keep on walking and come to the destination,” Mr Jamali was quoted by PPI.

He said it had been decided to hold biannual meeting of the NEC instead of once a year to have a mid-term review of the Public Sector Development Programme. In addition, he elaborated, all the provinces would hold quarterly review meetings.
