ISLAMABAD, July 31: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has instructed members of the Parliament and provincial assemblies to submit the yearly statements of their assets and the assets of their spouses and dependents by September 30.

This is a mandatory requirement under law and the statements of assets are published in the official Gazette of Pakistan.

According to a press release issued by the ECP, every year on 15th October, ECP notifies the names of members who failed to submit the details of their assets. Those who provide false particulars can be charged under Section 82 (committing corrupt practice).

Members of the Senate, National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have been requested to collect the prescribed forms from the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad and the offices of the provincial election commissioners.

Forms are also being sent to the Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat and all four provincial assemblies’ secretariats to facilitate the members. They can also be downloaded from the ECP’s website.
