QUETTA, May 20: Two policemen have been arrested for allegedly having links with an outlawed organisation, DIG Operations Fayyaz Ahmed Sumbal said on Monday.

Mr Sumbal told reporters that Assistant Sub-Inspector Yahya and Constable Mohammad Karim had been taken into custody a few days ago and they had confessed to having links with the outlawed organisation.

He said the arrested policemen had also confessed that they had passed on information to members of the outlawed organisation and provided weapons and shelter to them and helped them in carrying out sectarian attacks.

Regarding the fate of former advocate general Salahuddin Mengal, who was abducted some time ago, the DIG said that kidnappers had been arrested from Mastung and Mr Mengal would be recovered soon.

Answering a question, the DIG confirmed reports that two accused had escaped from the Cantonment Police Station on Sunday night.
