KARACHI, April 25: Holders Iqra University brushed aside Institute of Business Administration (IBA) 3-1 to retain the team event title in the third AKU Inter-university tennis tournament which concluded at AKU courts on Wednesday evening.

The final that was scheduled to take place on Monday was advanced for two days due to abrupt rain in the city.

Meanwhile, seasoned Abdur Rehman earned some consolation for IBA when he captured the singles crown by getting the better of Mustafa Tariq of Institute of Business Management (IoBM) 6-1, 6-0 in the final.

Dr Haroon-ur-Rasheed, Assistant Professor and Consultant Orthopedic, AKU, who graced the occasion, gave away the prizes.

Iqra University bt Institute of Business Administration 3-1; Shahbaz Khan bt Faizan Kazi 6-3, 6-2; Farhan Altaf bt Rehan 6-1, 6-0; Aamir Darvesh lost to Abdul Rehman 2-6, 0-2 (retired hurt); M. Umer bt Jazib Bin Alam (walkover). Singles final: Abdur Rehman (IBA) bt Mustafa Tariq (IoBM) 6-1, 6-0.
