Sharif, Singh likely to meet in September

BRUNEI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are likely to meet in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the premier’s Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Tuesday.

Aziz made the statement after a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Brunei today.

During the meeting which lasted for 20 minutes, the two representatives discussed the terms of confidence building measures and other related negotiations.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Aziz said Prime Minister Sharif and Prime Minister Singh were likely to meet in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Aziz added that India had expressed its desire to enhance bilateral relations and wished to take positive steps for improved ties between the two countries.

This is not fair. This is against charter of democracy (CD). President uses to take these visits in previous government. OK you are PM but at least you have to respect CD as you done prior to election

It is a good news for the people of both countries .What we people want to make a good environment in our region where we have accessibility to good education,heath and other facilities. More over millions and millions of people are suffering from poverty and that is the greatest enemy for the both countries.

Enhancement of bilateral relations between Pakistan and India is not possible without General Kiani's presence in the meeting, which is very unlikely.

While we as people suffer the burden of serious issues such as the alarmingly worsening law and order situation, huge energy crises, loadshedding, potable water, intoelrably high & rising prices of basic edible items, you as our newly elected PM and his advisor are busy shuttling from China to India to wherever. Dear sirs, hallo! the problems are domestic and created right here at home and you guys have to stay home sorting things out for us. Your touring the world at our cost seems you are trying to divert the people

This sartaj aziz is on his business he serve others purpose more,we never gained with the side line meeting/talks of the past,present and future.Lets stop people like Sartaj Aziz types who are good for nothing,Mian sahib get rid of such people of status qua.

Just a waste of time. Will not benefit either country. As before Monmohan Sing will retreat from the pledges he makes with Mr.Nawaz Sharif as soon as he lands at Delhi Airport. As we have seen it happen before.

@Agha Ata: I agree with you. In fact I feel, not just Gen Kayani should be present, but also the ISI Chief Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam should be present. Unless every power centre of Pakistan is on board, the peace process unfortunately will not proceed.
