LAHORE, June 18: The Dawn Media Group in collaboration with the UK Trade & Investment Pakistan and the British Council is organising the first-ever “Education UK Road Show’ at Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore from 11am to 6pm on Wednesday.

The event is being organised with the specific objective of helping institutes of higher learning reach a national cross section of Pakistani students who have the qualifications and means to contemplate further education in the UK.

This exhibition will provide a platform to representatives of more than 30 participating UK universities to directly interact with the students opting for the Sept 2013 intake.

The exhibition will be open from 11am to 6pm on June 19 and entry is free.

I hope the event also suggests and advises the prospective students how to acquire visas which include various kinds and duration. There are visas for students, which allow work for limited hours per week and visas that doesn't allow any work at all. Further the UK government and their Border Agency is very strict on implementation of their visa laws. In breach of the law, UKBA has the powers to cancel visas. Also it is very difficult to find work in the UK and one has to really satisfy the employers with relevant documents that a student is legally allowed to work in that country. The authorities prosecute and fine employers minimum
