LAHORE, May 22: A youth allegedly stabbed his mother to death over a minor issue in Gulshan-i-Ravi here on Wednesday.

The police said Hashim wanted to marry the daughter of his aunt, but his mother Kulsoom refused and advised him to first get the job.

Hashim continued insisting on marriage before job which led to an exchange of harsh words between the two. Falling into a rage, the youth attacked his mother with a knife, killed her on the spot and fled the scene.

Quoting initial investigation, the police said Kulsoom had contracted second marriage with Muhammad Afzal after getting divorce from her first husband who was a resident of DG Khan. Hashim was from her first husband, the police said, adding that the youth came from DG Khan.

Police sent the body to a hospital for an autopsy and registered a case against the youth.

SHOT DEAD: A youth was allegedly shot dead by his uncle over a family dispute in Shahdara on Wednesday.

The police said that Yasin of Boota Chowk had nursed a grudge against his nephew Tariq Ali for contacting marriage against his (Yasin) will. Both had quarreled on the issue in the past, but the elders resolved the matter.

The police said Yasin and Tariq again fell out with each other on Wednesday. Later, Yasin brought a pistol, fired three shots and injured his nephew critically. Tariq was shifted to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police sent the body for an autopsy and started investigation.
