WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama hailed his Myanmar counterpart Thein Sein's reform efforts Monday but warned him that violence against a Muslim ethnic minority group must stop.
Welcoming Thein Sein on a first visit to the White House, Obama referred to the country by its official name Myanmar rather than Burma, a symbolic gesture as Washington seeks to encourage moves towards full democracy.
