KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf said that the board would examine Danish Kaneria's rejected appeal against his life ban from cricket, the Press Trust of India reported.

"We will ask our lawyers to analyze the outcome of the appeal hearing of Kaneria and then decide what to do. But one thing is clear we are not going to tolerate corruption of any sort in our cricket," he said.

Kaneria failed in his appeal to overturn his lifetime ban from cricket on Friday.

The leg-spinner was banned last year for his role in a spot-fixing plot, but denied all involvement and immediately indicated his intention to contest the decision.

He was found guilty of “cajoling and pressurising” former Essex team-mate Mervyn Westfield into accepting cash in return for trying to concede a set number of runs in an over during an English county Pro40 match in 2009.

The PCB had earlier said in July that Kaneria would be suspended from playing in his home country until the outcome of the appeal was known.

Kaneria said after the ECB announcement that he was disappointed with the verdict.

"It is again disappointing because the way things went in the four-day hearing, I thought things had become clear. But once we know the reasons we will decide whether to go to the High Court or not," he told PTI.

"We are waiting find out the reasons behind it and as soon as we know, we will take further steps."
