Fashion Pakistan Week 2013 — Day 2

The pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council, presented the second and final day of Fashion Pakistan Week 5, 2013 – a platform that endeavors to promote Pakistan’s seasoned and new aspiring fashion talent both on the domestic and international platform.

The second and final day of the Fashion Week opened with Shamaeel Ansari,Chairperson of Fashion Pakistan. Described as devilishly dynamic, the darling of design whose textures and tones intoxicate was followed by Arsalan & Yahseer, Ayesha Ibrahim, Kayseria, Obaid Shaikh, Rizwanullah, Ishtiaq Afzal and Sania Maskatiya.

After the break, the show resumed with Sana Safinaz as the opening act followed by Gul Ahmed, Hajra Hayat, Jafferjees, Hasina Khanani, Nauman Arfeen and Deepak Perwani. — Photos by Reuters, AFP, AP and Dragonfly.

It is not about being conservative or maverick..Why do we not conduct a fashion show of our culture instead of flaunting western extravaganza ? Girls in mini-skirts or macro-mini.. ..they look hot but what exactly are we trying to compete with ....indian-going-on-hollywood or western society ..? Trust me it does not take us no where ...We've got to be creative ... This is just a drowning-man-catching-at-a-straw attempt of us trying to blend in with the west to look stronger in their eyes . Should n't we be looking stronger in our eyes first by filling in the vacuum created in our society be being morally and technically stronger in order to save it from crumbling into pieces and ultimately into oblivion.

boy, I respect your thoughts, but whole objective of fashion shows is to market their products offering to export markets and not to portray one's own cultural identity. Essence is more commercial rather cultural.

Even if this fashion show is to potray designs for export market, still these things are happening in Pakistan and it does affect the society. We have our own cultural values ( not funky type)Indian, Pakistani and Islamic cultural) which does not consider the fashion like this to be good. We have to protect our culture for our own good. And fashion clothes does not only mean being indecent and funky. You can have decent western clothes fashion show if its really the need.
