KARACHI: The USSR Government has proposed a substantial increase in trade with Pakistan to the extent of about 146 million Pakistani rupees each way during the current year.

According to a Press release by the USSR Embassy in Karachi yesterday, the USSR trade representative submitted on Aug 14, 1962, to the Secretary, Commerce Ministry, the list of goods which the USSR may import from Pakistan, in addition to jute and cotton.

The trade representative was quoted as saying that the list of goods represented his idea of developing the trade but that he was ready to consider any counter proposals by the Pakistani side in this respect and to discuss them “in a business-like way”.

The Commerce Secretary, according to the Press release, promised to give views of his Ministry after the examination of the list. —Staff Correspondent

Mao invited to Moscow LONDON: Mr. Mao Tse-tung, Chinese Communist Party leader, has been invited to visit Moscow, according to Moscow Radio.

At the same time, the official Soviet news agency “Tass” announced that Russia had suggested May 15 as the date for a “high-level” meeting between the Soviet and Chinese Communist Party representatives in Moscow.

The Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party and Mr Nikita Khrushchev expressed gratitude for the Chinese invitation to “stop over in Peking during his journey to Cambodia”. —Agencies
