THATTA, March 27: Former PPP MNA Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro, district Peoples Youth Wing president Aftab Soomro and eight others were booked in a murder case of a resident of the village of Ali Behar, Rasool Bux Taaro, here on Wednesday.

Taaro’s father Ahmed Taaro has lodged an FIR at Keenjhar police station that Dr Soomro, Aftab Soomro, Shah Muhammad Soomro, Hussam Soomro, Anwar Soomro, Usman Soomro, Mohib Ali Soomro and others were involved in a tribal clash between the Taara and Soomra tribes in which Rasool Bux Taaro had been killed.

Recently, Dr Wahid Soomro developed differences with the PPP high-ups over many issues and rumours were around that he was trying to form a dissident’s group within the party.

Qaim visits Thatta Sindh PPP chief Syed Qaim Ali Shah arrived here on Wednesday along with the foster brother of President Asif Ali Zardari, Owais Muzaffar Tappi.

Speaking to reporters at the residence of former MPA Sadiq Ali Memon, he said he was here to file nomination papers of Mr Tappi, participate in public meeting organised by Shirazi brothers and to meet party’s dejected workers. “We will strive hard to bring them back into the party fold,” he said.

He expressed his unaware about the resignation of the party’s Thatta district president Arbab Wazir Memon, and said Mr Memon was a diehard worker and would never desert the party.

Meanwhile, Mr Tappi filed his nomination papers for PS-88 Ghorabari, Thatta-V. Initially, returning officer Saleem Raza Baloch declined to accept his papers on the grounds that the deadline of 4pm was over.

However, after contacting the election commissioner concerned and seeking the permission, the candidate’s lawyer was given 10 minutes to complete the formalities.

The lawyer managed to do so and got the papers accepted.
