MANSEHRA, Feb 14: The district administration has decided to remove all encroachments from roads and parks in Mansehra city and its adjoining areas.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Shah here on Thursday. Additional deputy commissioner Tasleem Khan and tehsildar Javed Rashid also attended the meeting.

Mr Shah ordered the revenue department to mark all encroachments in bazaars and structures built on official land in the city. He asked the officials of municipal committee to submit details of encroachment of state land and parks so that action could be taken against the encroachers.

ROBBERS HELD: Police have arrested six members of a robbers’ gang and recovered stolen gold ornaments, cash and other valuables from their possession.

Mukhtiar Ahmad Tanoli, deputy superintendent of police, Shinkiari, told media persons in Baffa on Thursday that all the six robbers were wanted in several cases of dacoity in Mansehra and other parts of Hazara.

He said that Rs150,000 cash, gold ornaments, four pistols and a gun had been recovered from their possession during raids.

Mr Tanoli said that the Baffa police raided Ichrian area and arrested the ringleader Shahzad Ajmal and on his lead five more members of the gang, including Mohammad Fahim, Islamullah, Sarwar Shah, Darwesh and Kamran, were also arrested.

He said that these robbers had also shot and injured Mohammad Zahid in Tarnab and Mohammad Imran in Kotli Pain on resistance.

INTERNET: The Higher Education Commission has installed a high-speed internet system in Hazara University at a cost of Rs5 million.

According to a press release issued here on Thursday, vice-chancellor Dr Sakhawat Shah witnessed installation of the system. Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that the internet system would help the students in their research work and they would now be able to access international research papers and other works. —Correspondent
