LAHORE:: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has urged the government to take steps for bringing back the Pakistani crew members detained in India.

Chairperson HRCP Zohra Yusuf, in a statement on Wednesday, asked the government to help the crew settle their affairs with the company that employed them.

She expressed concern over the irresponsible attitude of the foreign company due to which the five Pakistani crew members along with others were stuck up on their ship at anchorage in India for over five months.

The crew members have not been paid their salaries for months and have food left for only a few more days, she added.

The 24-member crew of MV Fatahur Rahman, which has been at Vishakhapatnam anchorage in India for over five months, comprises five Pakistanis and 19 Bangladeshis, she said.

The vessel is said to be owned by a Singapore-based company which has an agent in Karachi and also one in Vishakhapatnam, India.
