KARACHI, Feb 10: Davis Cupper Yasir Khan opened the year on a winning note by getting the better of older brother Jalil Khan to win the men’s singles title in the Sindh Open ranking tennis championship at the Defence Authority Creek Club here on Sunday.
Yasir, who was part of Pakistan’s victorious team that beat Sri Lanka 3-2 in the Davis Cup tie at Colombo last week, won 6-4, 6-1 to earn a purse of Rs10,000. Jalil received Rs4,000.
Neha Khan, however, struggled to overcome Kinza Ganchi 6-4, 6-4 to land the ladies singles title that earned her Rs1,500. The latter was awarded Rs1,000.
Talha Zubair Surmawala lived up to his billing when he carved out an emphatic 6-0, 7-5 victory over Malik Hamza to annex the juniors crown.
The under-15 and under-11 titles went to Dawar Rehan and M. Dada respectively.
