ISLAMABAD, Jan 26: A man murdered his wife and her cousin, on Saturday, in the capital’s rural area, on suspicion that both were having illicit relations, said police officials.

The incident took place in the area of Dhok Azam where the man first gunned down his wife and later raided the house of his wife’s cousin and shot him dead.

The accused and the victims hail from Malakand and were close relatives.

Their families had migrated from their native town to Islamabad, three decades ago, to earn a livelihood and had settled in Dhok Azam.

The families were labourers by profession and living in close vicinity of each other.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the man had objection over the relationship of his wife with her cousin, who frequently visited the house.

The couple had married four years ago and had two children but used to often quarrel with each other, the investigation revealed.

The man suspected that his wife had illicit relations with the cousin, which resulted in the killings.

On Saturday, the man first murdered his 27-year-old wife by firing two shots from a 30-bore pistol. Later he raided the neigbouring house of the cousin and killed him with a single shot in the chest.

Later the man escaped from the scene.

A nephew of the cousin killed, lodged a complaint with the Shahzad Town police which led to the registration of the case.
