KARACHI, Jan 22: Cotton prices were unchanged on Tuesday, after rising by Rs50 the previous day, but activity rose as millers indulged in aggressive buying anticipating further rise in the prevailing prices in coming days.
The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) kept its official spot rate unchanged at Rs5,950 per maund. Around 3,800 bales were exchanged at Rs5,100 to Rs6,100 in Sindh and 11,400 bales at Rs5,050 to Rs6,150 in Punjab.
The following transactions were reported on the ready counter on Tuesday:
SINDH TYPE: 200 bales, Mirpur Khas at Rs5,100, 2,400 bales, Sanghar (on two months credit) at Rs5,950 and 1,200 bales, Upper Sindh (BCI) at Rs6,075 to Rs6,100.
PUNJAB VAREITY: 200 bales, Burewala (low quality) at Rs5,050, 400 bales, Chichawatni at Rs5,700, 400 bales, Rajhana at Rs5,700, 400 bales, Ahmedpur at Rs5,700, 1,000 bales, Bahawalpur at Rs5,750, 600 bales, Khichiwala at Rs5,800, 1,200 bales, Haroonabad at Rs5,800 to Rs6,000, 2,600 bales, Mian Wali at Rs6,000 to Rs6,100, 400 bales, Kabir Wali at Rs6,100, 400 bales, Rajan Pur at Rs6,100, 400 bales, Sadiqabad at Rs6,100, 400 bales, Burewala at Rs6,100, 2,000 bales, Khanewal at Rs6,100 and 1,000 bales, Khanpur at Rs6,150.
