LAHORE, Dec 17: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has brought forward the date of inauguration of the Larkana Stadium from January to Dec 26, a day before the fifth death anniversary of the assassinated Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Benazir Bhutto.

The stadium is situated near the tomb of the former Pakistan prime minister and, according to sources within the PCB, the date was brought forward after a decision was made in Islamabad that forced the Board to open the stadium on Dec 26 so as to provide logistical facilities to the distinguished guests of the PPP who would be in Larkana for the death anniversary.

In the recent past, Larkana has been unable to provide comfortable accommodation to the PPP dignitaries and the stadium seems to be the only venue in the city where lavish arrangements can be made.

For the inauguration, a cricket match is being organised and a good number of past and present Test cricketers have been invited to watch the match.
