KARACHI, Nov 28: Wajid Ali and Adnan-ur-Rehman were the shining stars as Landhi Friends defeated Faisal Gymkhana by 33 runs in the NBP-KCCA Premier League Cricket tournament fixture at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground here on Wednesday.

Wajid played a significant innings of 66, which included six boundaries, and Afaq Ahmed made 36 with four hits to the fence to help Landhi Gymkhana reach a fighting total of 159 all out in 37.3 overs.

Slow left-armer Tauheed Khan was the outstanding performer for Faisal Gymkhana by grabbing five wickets for 30 runs.

But Faisal Gymkhana’s response to the relatively modest run chase was disappointing since they capitulated inside 38 overs for 126. Off-spinner Adnan wrecked their hopes with excellent figures of four for 17.

After his vital knock contribution with the bat, Afaq chipped in with two wickets for 23 runs with his slow left-armers, while off-spinner Shahid Ali took two for 23.

Summarised scores: LANDHI FRIENDS 159 in 37.3 overs (Wajid Ali 66, Afaq Ahmed 36; Tauheed Khan 5-30); FAISAL GYMKHANA 126 in 37.1 overs (Irfan Ali 25, Naved Talib 25, Arsalan Farzand 20; Adnan-ur-Rehman 4-17, Afaq Ahmed 2-20, Shahid Ali 2-23).—Sports Reporter
