KARACHI, Oct 31: Opener Hasan Javed starred with a blazing innings of 180 as United Sports clinched a thrilling one-run victory over Fazal-ur-Rehman Sports here on Wednesday to qualify for the final rounds of the Mehdi Hasan Memorial KCCA Inter-club cricket tournament.

Thanks to the belligerent effort of Hasan, who bludgeoned 14 boundaries and as many as nine sixes during his 115-ball knock, United Sports reached 288-4 in their stipulated 45 overs in the Group ‘H’ fixture at the TMC Ground.

Osama Ahmed struck 12 boundaries in an equally impressive 95, but his heroics failed to prevent Fazal-ur-Rehman Sports being dismissed off the final delivery of the match for 287. Ahmed Hussain (47 with the aid of three fours and two sixes) and S.M. Zafar (43, three fours and one six) also made useful contributions.

Leg-spinner Kashif Patel bagged three wickets for 33 runs with Qutub Tariq and Rao Salman chipping with a brace each.
