(L-R) Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan.

After the 2010 film My Name is Khan, they haven't come together as director and actor. But that's about to change now.

Mirror has it that Karan Johar and Shahukh Khan are gearing up for a most unexpected collaboration.

Times of India reported that four prominent directors: Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee will be joining hands to make a feature film titled Bombay Talkies that commemorates completion of 100 years of Indian cinema.

It is learnt that Karan Johar 's directorial, which will be 20 to 25 minute in duration and is a part of Bombay Talkies, will star Shahrukh Khan in the lead while Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor will lend their presence to Zoya's film. And while Anurag and Dibakar are yet to finalise their films' cast, rumour is that Imran Khan will be part of Dibakar's movie.

Bombay Talkies will have all four directors doing a fictional take on how they perceive the genesis and reach of cinema. Given the unique style of each of the four directors, it will be interesting to see their individual movies. These will then come together as one feature film that will most likely release in May 2013.
