ISLAMABAD: Government on Sunday decided to increase the prices of petrol and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), DawnNews reported.

Sources said that the prices were increased on the demand of petroleum companies.

According to the approval, per litre petrol price has been raised by 6.82 rupees. Prices of high octane and kerosene oil has been raised by 1.5 rupees and 62 paisas respectively.

The price of petrol is now 106.72 rupees, while the price of high octane is now 137.96 rupees.

Meanwhile the prices of high speed diesel and light diesel were reduced by 1.75 rupees and 14 paisas respectively.

Increment in CNG prices was also approved by the petroleum ministry. In region-I, which includes Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtukhwa and Pothohar, prices of CNG were raised by 6.24 rupees per kg while in region-II, which includes Sindh and Punjab, CNG prices were raised by 5.70 rupees per kg.

The change in prices of petroleum product swill be effective from midnight.

Don't blame government as it is more expensive in other countries. It's even more expensive in INDIA. How about that. You all steal electricity and take bribes and never do your jobs correctly and just blame government. First correct yourself.

Very surprising.Your government can spend millions of dollars from your precious and dwindling foreign reserves to buy oil from overseas ant yet cannot make peace with the Baluchistan people to extract oil and gas from that region.You have "Gold" in your backyard but have no idea how to exploit it.HELLO! what is wrong with you people?

I wish that prices were not increased,but what alternative government has to raise the revenue for this cash starved country which is entirely dependent on aid and external loans.Our well to do people are reluctant to pay all what is they are required.to. Unfortunately,raising of income tax rate would not be acceptable to the business communities They will immediately go on all kinds of "strikes"Let us face and endure it if we want to get rid of external pressures and leverages they apply on us.

Will the Ministry of Petroleum, CNG dealers Association and OGRA explain why the ratio of 60:40 is not being maintained between petrol and CNG prices which is a agreed policy between them.
