ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Friday directed Interior Minister Rehman Malik to ensure that every possible measure was taken to safeguard the existing mobile phone service from elements who misuse it without causing any inconvenience to the users.

The prime minister directed the interior minister in a meeting at the PM House in Islamabad.

The premier said that mobile phone was an essential requirement of the modern day life and citizens of Pakistan must continue to enjoy this facility without any disruption.

Malik briefed the prime minister about the steps taken by the interior ministry on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr for pre-empting any untoward incident.

He said that the decision of blocking mobile phone facility in certain areas played a critical role in maintaining peace during the Eid days.

Prime Minister Ashraf appreciated the efforts of the interior minister and his team for the excellent security arrangements made in coordination with the provincial governments on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
