LAHORE, Aug 5: Taking notice of electrocution of a six-year-old child on Ravi Road during Saturday’s rain, the City District Government Lahore has sought covering of poles, loose and live wires dangling on streets and roads of the provincial metropolis in order to avert such incidents during the ongoing monsoon.

“If Wapda does not adopt the precautionary measures by removing or covering the electricity cables/wires hanging on roads and streets within the next couple of days, the CDGL will take an appropriate action against the officials responsible for this,” Lahore DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said in a statement on Sunday.

He also urged Wapda officials to evolve an effective monsoon plan and rectify the technical faults in electricity supply system immediately.

He appealed to the people to be careful and keep themselves as well as their children away from electric poles during rain.

Meanwhile, the CDGL has also taken notice about a child who fell down in a drain near Moon Market (Iqbal Town) during Saturday’s rain and directed the Wasa administration to make all efforts for solving public problems during heavy rains. He said the agency must pay special attention to the low-lying areas of the city in order to avoid such incidents in future. He directed the officials to take steps for drainage of water from roads and streets during and after rains

BAZAARS: DCO Mr Mengal on Sunday directed the officials to overcome shortage of tomatoes in the city and ensure drop in its price.

During inspection of Tajpura Ramazan Bazaar, he checked quality and prices of the eatables and expressed his satisfaction in this regard.

He appealed to the people to call CDGL’s toll-free Zimadar Shehri Helpline (080002345) in case of any complaint.
