FAISALABAD, Aug 4: Father of 14-year-old Zubair Ahmed alleges that severe torture by Jhang Bazaar police claimed the life of his son who expired at the Allied Hospital on Saturday.

Rafiq Ahmed of Hameed Park told reporters that his son was arrested by the police two days ago in a sodomy case and his condition deteriorated on Friday night. He said he had visited Zubair to give him food.

“Zubair complained of severe torture by the police,” he said. He said he approached ASI Ali who asked him to shift the boy to a hospital.

SSP (operations) Sadiq Ali told Dawn that postmortem of the boy would be conducted and the responsible would be fixed if found guilty. He said apparently no sign of torture was found on the body of the boy.

He said condition of the boy deteriorated at the police station and he was shifted to a private hospital from where he was referred to the Allied Hospital.
