PESHAWAR, July 11: The students, who cheat in examinations, may not be able to do so in future as the government intends to use some modern digital cameras for checking illegal practices in examinations, according to Visual Education Technology Organisation (Veto) regional director Ashfaq Hussain Shah.

Mr Ashfaq told reporters here at Peshawar Press Club that Veto had developed a modern technology for the first time in the country to check unfair means in examinations.

He said modern electronic gadgets would help curb cheating in examinations and monitor teachers on duty.

The Veto regional director said modern technology had been introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the first time to have proper check on cheating in examinations by digital cameras and that attendance of teachers in government schools would be observed via electronic monitoring system.

He said provincial education minister Sardar Hussain Babak had promised all possible cooperation for introduction of the said technology.

“Veto aims to improve educational standard at both private and government schools in the province by modern techniques by providing audio and video lectures of textbooks to students,” he said.

Mr Ashfaq said 40,000 9th and 10th grade students would be provided with DVDs and audio CDs containing lectures of mathematics, chemistry and English for summer vacations.

“The user-friendly software for mathematics and chemistry has also been developed and it will be distributed to students free of cost soon,” he said.

He said digital libraries would also be set up in both public and private educational institutions to promote a culture of e-books.
