LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Tuesday summoned PML-N MPA Rana Asif for June 29 to explain why Pakistan origin card was issued to him, if he did not have dual nationality.

The CJ also sought a written reply from the respondent MPA in this regard.

The CJ passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Faisal Ilyas Sadiq through his counsel Saif-ul-Malook seeking disqualification of MPA Rana Asif.

The petitioner, in his petition, submitted Rana Asif was a Muslim but elected as Member Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in general elections against a seat reserved for non-Muslim minorities.

The petitioner also expressed concern over dual nationality of Rana Asif Mehmood.

He pleaded the court to issue directions for disqualification of the MPA.
