KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilnai to appear before Supreme Court to answer court's contempt notice.

“Gilani should face the Supreme Court bench. The situation would have been different today had he acted upon my advices,” said Sharif talking to reporters at Sukkur airport.

Sharif said government’s allies were also involved in humiliating prestigious institutions. “They (coalition partners) are equally responsible for the present political turmoil,” he added.

The PML-N chief visited Pir Jo Goth near Khairpur to meet Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi who was elected 8th Pir Pagara of the Hur community.

Talking to media representatives along with the new Pir Pagara, Sharif accused the rulers of creating problems to democracy’s survival.

The democracy has no threat from anyone other than the attitude of present rulers. “Pakistan is passing through critical phase….we all should join hands together because no single party can steer it out of crisis,” he said ruling out possibility of his partys dialogue with the PPP and pledged to carry on cooperation with Pagara’s PML-Functional.

He urged the government to abide by SC orders and write letter to Swiss authorities for details of President Zardari’s bank accounts.

“Why they are reluctant to contact Swiss government??.... Mr Zardari should prove that this is his own money, and not of the nation,” said the PML-N chief.
