ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Thursday that the government is taking all steps according to the constitution.

She said all the democratic forces wanted the supremacy of democratic institutions. She observed that anti-democratic forces do not like the smooth functioning of democracy in the country.

The Information Minister said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had always been the strong force against dictatorship.

She added power of the people is the real force for PPP. She said that democratic people introduced the constitution, and made Pakistan a nuclear state.

The federal minister said that democratic forces had removed the dictatorial amendments in the constitution.

Giving comments on the address of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, She stated, “It was complete reflection of the people of Pakistan.”    Dr Firdous said that support of the people is guarantee for strengthening the national institutions.

The Minister said, “We strengthened the national institutions and struggled for the smooth functioning of democracy.”

She said that PPP government was making all out efforts for the resolution of people's problems.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that PPP government despite negative propaganda had been working for the rights of the people and strengthening the national institutions of the country.
