The party chief Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the attack and termed it an aggression on the national sovereignty and security, said a statement issued by the party here on Monday.
Altaf endorsed the decision of his party's coordination committee to observe November 28 as “Solidarity and Stability Day.”
Altaf Hussain had also directed to take down party flags from houses, buildings and other public places and raise the national flag instead in order to weld the nation into a strong bond of unity for defending the honour and sovereignty of the country.
Programmes were held throughout the country at MQM offices, and national flag was raised with profound fervour.
The main programme of the day was organised at the party's headquarters at Azizabad which was attended by a large number of its workers and sympathisers.
Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee, Dr Farooq Sattar, on the occasion, said that the enthusiastic response given by the public to the “Stability and Solidarity Day” observed by his party proved beyond doubt that the Pakistani nation is capable of giving a befitting reply to any aggression on its borders.
The MQM leader paid rich tributes to the officers and personnel who embraced martyrdom in the Nato attack.
He said that this challenge should be converted into an opportunity, and it should be made clear to the world that any adventure against the sovereignty of the country would be strongly dealt with.
He said that the nation should get united in order to make the defence of the country impregnable.
He asserted that his party would not desist from offering any sacrifices.
He said that the army is not alone as the entire nation is firmly behind the armed forces.
