ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the government was providing an ideal environment to all political parties for politiking.

Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), Dr Firdous, however, regretted that some of the political parties were trying to derail the democracy.

She said that it was on the credit of the incumbent government that there was no single political prisoner in the country.

Replying to a question, she said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) attached priority to the national interest over individual.

She said that the politics of confrontation always hampered providing relief to the people.

Dr Firdous said that the PPP was not an ethnic party but it was a symbol of federation.

She said that the existence of PPP support in all the provinces alongwith Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan was evident that the federation and PPP were too important for each other.

The Information Minister said that the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz was facing political isolation these days.

She said the government was going to complete its fourth year in office and the PPP leadership through its reconciliatory policy had turned the rivals into allies.

“The Pakistan Peoples Party believes in the power of the people and the votes of masses”, she said.
