ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the Secretary of Railway Javed Iqbal to investigate the railways corruption cases via NAB, DawnNews reported.
The two-member bench led by the Chief Justice has directed the Attorney General to assist the ministry of Railway and legally guide the court to further investigate the corruption cases in the Railway Department.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice of Pakistan asked that how is it that Pakistan, which is a state of nuclear and missile capabilities, not fix railway engines.
The court said it had already ordered the release of the government land from various land mafias in Karachi and asked the railway authorities to work with the local administration to release its land from grabbers.
The court also ordered to the railway authorities to identify the grabbed land and inform the court about it.
Former Railway Minister, Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed said that all the problems of the Pakistan Railway would be resolved with the release of its grabbed land in Karachi. However, he remained silent when the court asked him to identify the railway land grabbers in Karachi.
