STOCKHOLM: Pakistan’s ace tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna on Wednesday advanced to the quarter-finals of men’s doubles in the 600,000 Euro Stockholm Open.

The top-seeded Indo-Pak pair beat Julian Knowle of Austria and Poland’s Lukasz Kubot 6-4, 6-4 to start their campaign on a positive note.

They will play the winner of the opening round match between Germany’s Michael Kohlmann and Alexander Waske and wildcard duo of Martin Emmrich of Germany and Andreas Siljestrom of Sweden.

The Aisam-Bopanna pair, who had won the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany earlier this year, are currently No. 7 for Battle for London — the ATP World Tour Finals next month — with just three qualifying spots left for grabs.—Agencies
