BERLIN: Despite their perfect qualification campaign, only one in five Germans believe their football team will win the European Championships for the fourth time and claim victory in the Euro 2012 final.

According to a survey conducted by SID, an AFP subsidiary, just 19.5 per cent of those polled here think Germany will win the Euro 2012 final on July 1 in Kiev, with the tournament to be hosted by Poland and the Ukraine.

Although 27 percent of those asked thought Joachim Loew's team will reach the final, more than a quarter of those polled said they can see the Germans making an early exit in the quarter-finals.

And a handful of those asked, two percent, even thought the Germans would fail to reach the knock-out phases.

Germany were the first team to book their place at the Euro 2012 finals through the qualification groups with ten straight victories and World Cup winners Spain were the only other team to also finish with a perfect record.

The last time Germany won a major title was at Euro '96, but they reached the final of Euro 2008 and finished third at the last two World Cup finals.
