ISLAMABAD: The law enforcing agencies arrested as many as 3,143 terrorists during the last three years seizing 4,240 arms and recovering Rs 5,06,920 from their custody, Minister for Interior Rehman Malik Wednesday informed National Assembly in a written reply.

He stated that 231 terrorists were arrested in Punjab, 145 in Sindh, 2,101 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 343 in Balochistan, 130 in Islamabad, 106 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 80 in Fata and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The weapons seized from the terrorists included rocket launchers, AK-47s, rifles, pistols, missiles, suicide jackets, bombs, hand grenades, detonators, dynamites, gun powder and anti-aircraft guns.

Malik informed the assembly that 505 persons were killed and 1,720 injured in terrorist attacks in Punjab during 2009-10 and 2010-11.
