ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the government to suspend all possible administrative action against FIA Additional Director General Zafar Qureshi, DawnNews reported.

The apex court also directed FIA's Director-General to withdraw the transfer orders of four officials involved in the NICL scam probe.

The directives were issued by a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry during a hearing of a case on Mr Qureshi's suspension.

During the hearing, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq presented the July 4 notification under which Mr Qureshi was suspended by the government.

Mr Haq also placed on record orders of transfer of the four officers involved in the NICL probe — Deputy Director Javed Hussain, Additional Directors Khalid Anees and Muhammad Ahmed and Inspector Muhammad Sarwar.

Critical of Mr Qureshi’s suspension order, Chief Justice Iftikhar said it appeared that the authority of the court was being deliberately challenged through political interference.
