LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday directed the police to present a report on police encounters in Punjab, DawnNews reported.

The court issued the directive while hearing a suo motu notice on a fake police encounter.

During the hearing, Chief Justice LHC Justice Ejaz Chaudhry said that police should not be at liberty to kill people.

Justice Chaudhry further said that incidents like the killing of Sarfaraz Shah in Karachi should not occur in Punjab.

He ordered police authorities to present before the court a report on all police encounters that have taken place in the province.

The LHC subsequently adjourned the hearing to June 30. — DawnNews
