PESHAWAR: The provincial budget for 2011-12 to be presented on Saturday (today) is likely to have an outlay of Rs350 billion, official sources say.
Finance Minister Mohammad Humayun Khan will present the budget in the provincial assembly. It will be the fourth budget of the coalition government of the Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
An official told Dawn that the budgetary proposals included Annual Development Programme (ADP) worth over Rs80 billion out of which 70 per cent will be allocated for the ongoing schemes while the remaining amount would go to new projects.
The government has also decided to increase the development funds of MPAs from Rs10 to Rs15 million. Some of the public welfare schemes in the next budget are Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rozgar Scheme, special development package for 10 district and setting up of directorate of human right.
The provincial government has decided not to introduce any new tax, however, the rates of existing taxes will be increased and the number of taxpayers will be enhanced.
The government is also likely to announce 15 per cent pay raise for government employees. The government will try to complete most of the ongoing developmental projects before the next general elections, the official said.
