LAHORE: During the hearing of a petition in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday, the police expressed its ignorance regarding the disappearance of the families of Faizan Haider and Faheem, the two young men who were shot dead by CIA contractor Raymond Davis on January 27, DawnNews reported.

A petition had been filed on March 18 by Advocate Malik Munsif Awan seeking the recovery of the missing families who had disappeared after they allegedly received blood-money for pardoning Davis.

Advocate Awan had said that neither federal nor provincial governments had tried to determine the whereabouts of the missing people. He had also requested the court to summon the authorities and direct them to recover the alleged missing families and produce them before the court.

During today's proceedings, Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry enquired from CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen as to who was responsible for the death of Ibadur Rehman, who was killed when a US consulate car sent to assist Davis knocked him down. However, the CCPO did not respond.

Tareen's consul, however, said that the families were free to go wherever they wanted to after having received blood-money.

Moreover, the LHC directed Punjab Home Secretary Shahid Khan to submit a reply on March 28.
