ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday telephoned Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, DawnNews reported.

In his call, Prime Minister Gilani requested Chaudhry Nisar to cancel an expected boycott by the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) of President Asif Ali Zardari's address to the upcoming joint session of the parliament.

Moreover, Chaudhry Nisar also met with a government delegation comprising of Raza Rabbani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Nazar Mohammad Gondal and Naveed Qamar.

PML-N sources said Chaudhry Nisar did not give any assurances on stopping the boycott.

Moreover, Raza Rabbani said he hoped that parties would not go back to the politics of the 1990s.

He further said that Prime Minister Gilani had called a meeting of coalition parties regarding President Zardari's address.
