KARACHI: One of the suspects involved in the assassination of minority affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti has been arrested, Federal Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry told media representatives on Wednesday.

Zaman said he believed that one of the reasons why the assassination occurred was because Mr Bhatti had refused to keep security guards with him.

The Cabinet Division has therefore strictly advised all ministers to keep security guards with them.

Zaman also revealed that there was a possible threat to some parliamentarians and they had been informed of it.

“Measures have been taken for the protection of these members,” said Zaman.
