WASHINGTON: Temporary Protection Status (TPS) Bill for illegal Pakistani immigrants in US was moved in the US Congress on Sunday, according to DawnNews.

Al Green, a Democratic congressman from Texas presented the TPS Bill.

This was the second time that the bill was tabled, the first being in December last year. However, new elections and a new Congress came into existence and the previous bill’s stipulated period came to an end before the Congress gave its approval.

With the approval of this bill, thousands of illegal Pakistani immigrants in the US would be able to enjoy temporary residence status.

The bill would also benefit students and those staying in the US on visit visas.
