QUETTA, Dec 15: Balochistan ministers on Wednesday condemned the utilisation of some funds by deputy commissioners which, according to them, were meant to be used by various government departments. During provincial assembly session, Maulana Abdul Wasay, Mir Sadiq Umrani, Aniullah Shams, Shah Nawaz Marri, Asfandyar Khan Kakar and Habibur Rehman Muhdhasni on points of order raised the issue of developments projects in different areas that were implemented through the deputy commissioners instead of departments concerned.

They said all development schemes should be carried out through departments concerned in consultation with ministers and elected representatives.

They said low gas pressure was a major problem for consumers in Quetta and other areas of the province. They called upon the management of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to solve the problem.

The chair assured the house that he would summon the general manager of SSGC to discuss the issue.

Mir Asghar Rind said that former district government had allotted 1,000 acre of land to Pakistan Navy in Turbat without the approval of provincial government. He demanded cancellation of the deal.

Mir Ali Madad Jhattak of PPP criticised the ministers and said they only raised voice for development schemes but never visited hunger strike camps established by the relatives of missing persons.

Minority member Jaffar George regretted that minority communities in the country were not being treated equally.

Members of Balochistan Union of Journalists staged a walkout from the press gallery to protest over the murder of Mohammad Khan Sasoli, the president of Khuzdar press club.
