KARACHI, Dec 1: About 32 pregnant women at the Musharraf Colony relief camp are likely to face pregnancy related multiple risks unless immediate maternity advice or help is made available to them in the proximity of the camp.

A tent-to-tent survey of 500 Quarters IDP Tent Village at Gulshan-i-Benazir, Keamari Town, conducted by a children rights organisation, Roshni Helpline, has revealed that there are 32 IDP women who are in different stages of pregnancy. All of them are living without any regular advice or help, let alone any medical check-up or treatment.

The non-governmental organisation has come to know of a case in which a woman suffered miscarriage.

The family of that woman hailed from Shahdadpur, and has returned to their hometown.

She had reportedly suffered miscarriage in the absence of an immediate maternity help at the camp. She was taken to the Murshid Hospital, where she gave birth to a dead child, but her life was saved.—PPI
